companies with U.S. earnings after consumer confidence in the
world's biggest economy unexpectedly rose this month. CSL Ltd.
and Aristocrat Leisure Ltd. led gains.
BHP Billiton Ltd. led mining shares higher along with prices
of copper and nickel.
