Burundi coffee sales up 400 pct on output - board

(Reuters) - Burundi's coffee earnings jumped 400 percent to $58.2 million in 2006/07 on higher production compared with the previous season, an official from the state-run coffee board said on Monday.

The Burundi Coffee Board (OCIBU) said it sold 29,951 tonnes of beans in 2006/07 versus 6,178 tonnes the previous season when the tiny central African country earned $11.6 million.

Coffee Falls in New York on Rising Stockpiles, Favorable Weather in Brazil

(Bloomberg) -- Coffee in New York fell as U.S.
inventories increased and favorable weather spread over growing
regions in Brazil, the world's largest producer.

Stockpiles in warehouses monitored by the New York Board of
Trade rose to 4.17 million bags as of June 28, a gain of almost
8,800 bags from the previous day. There were 4.06 million bags
stored at the exchange's delivery points in New York, New
Orleans, Antwerp, Hamburg and Miami at the end of May.

Coffee Plunges Most Since October as Mild Weather Eases Brazil Frost Risk

(Bloomberg) -- Coffee plunged the most since
October in New York as mild temperatures and dry weather ease
concern that crops may be damaged in Brazil, the world's largest
producer.

Temperatures during the next five days will drop as low as
the upper-40s Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius), warm enough to
avoid frost, according to Meteorlogix LLC in Woburn,
Massachusetts. Brazil's harvest is from April to October.

Vietnam to Introduce Quality Checks on Coffee Exports Starting in October

(Bloomberg) -- Vietnam, the world's second-biggest
coffee producer, plans to introduce quality checks on exports of
the beans from October.

Coffee shipments will be restricted to beans that receive
certificates of quality after compulsory checks start Oct. 1,
according to a June 5 statement on Vietnam's Trade Ministry Web
site, citing Deputy Minister of Trade Luong Van Tu.
