Canada Dollar Rises to Three-Decade High on Gains in Copper, Oil, Gold

(Bloomberg) -- The Canadian dollar rose to a
three-decade high as prices of the nation's commodity
exports advanced, boosting the currency's appeal.

The currency strengthened after crude oil, gold and
copper prices jumped with oil touching a $76 a barrel in
New York. Commodities account for about half of Canada's
exports.

RBS close to Sempra Commodities takeover -source

LONDON, June 19 - Royal Bank of Scotland , Britain's second largest bank, is close to a deal to buy trading firm Sempra Commodities, owned by U.S.-based Sempra Energy , a source told Reuters on Tuesday.

UN Commodities Fund seeks to move into metals

(Reuters) - The Common Fund for Commodities, which has focused mainly on the agricultural sector, wants to broaden its focus into minerals as it seeks higher funding, its chief said on Monday.

The fund, an independent financing body which operates under the umbrella of the United Nations system, has only sponsored five projects in the minerals sector out of around 250 in its history, Managing Director Ali Mchumo told a mining conference in Namibia.
