Berkshire Hathaway 2nd-qtr profit rises 33 pct

(Reuters) - Operating profit, excluding gains from investments and derivatives, rose 22 percent to $2.51 billion, or $1,625 per share, from $2.05 billion, or $1,331.




Analysts on average had expected profit of $1,460 per share, according to Reuters Estimates.

UPDATE 1-Amedisys Q2 profit beats market estimate; ups FY07 view

(Reuters) - Amedisys earned $14.9 million, or 57 cents a share, for the
quarter, on net service revenue of $169.5 million. Analysts on
average expected earnings of 53 cents a share, on revenue of
$160.4 million, according to Reuters Estimates.




The company raised its 2007 earnings outlook to a range of
$2.10 to $2.20 a share from $2.05 to $2.15. Its new estimate on
net service revenue is $650 million to $675 million, up from
its prior view of $625 million to $650 million.

UPDATE 1-Hanover Compressor Q2 earnings rise 20 percent

(Reuters) - Net income for the quarter increased to $26.1 million or 23
cents a share from $21.7 million or 21 cents a share, a year
ago. Analysts expected earnings of 18 cents a share, according
to Reuters Estimates.




Revenue rose 27 percent to $515.7 million, driven primarily
by its compressor and accessory fabrication segment, which
contributed more than a fourth of the company's revenue.

Fording profit drops on lower coal prices

(Reuters) - Analysts expected an average of 64 Canadian cents a unit,
according to Reuters Estimates.




Cash available for distributions to unitholders was C$135
million, or 92 Canadian cents a unit during the quarter, down
from C$147 million or C$1.00 a unit a year earlier.

UPDATE 1-RadioShack posts quarterly profit

(Reuters) - Earnings came to $47 million, or 34 cents a share, for the
quarter, compared with a year-earlier loss of $3 million, or 2
cents a share.




Analysts expected profit of 25 cents a share, according to
Reuters Estimates. It was not immediately clear whether the
estimates were comparable.

UPDATE 1-Centerra Gold profit falls as production slips

(Reuters) - Centerra earned $18.6 million, or 9 cents a share, compared
with a profit of $29 million, or 13 cents a share, in the
year-before period.




Analysts polled by Reuters had expected, on average, profit
of 3 cents a share.

Sepracor results miss, cuts 2007 outlook

(Reuters) - The Marlborough, Massachusetts-based drug company said net profit fell to $6.1 million, or 5 cents a share, from $11 million, or 10 cents a share, a year ago.




Revenue rose 5 percent to $278.1 million. Analysts, on average, expected revenue of $327.2 million.

Deckers Outdoor quarterly earnings beat forecast

(Reuters) - Net sales rose 26.4 percent to $52.7 million.




Analysts' consensus view for earnings was 11 cents a share,
before items, on revenue of $49.3 million, according to Reuters
Estimates.

Dow Chemical earnings up, but tax rate eyed

(Reuters) - But shares of the company fell 6 percent, as some analysts argued that a lower-than-expected tax rate helped raise earnings above Wall Street's expectations.




Dow, the No. 1 U.S. chemical maker by sales, posted a second-quarter profit of $1.04 billion, or $1.07 a share, up from $1.02 billion, or $1.05 a share, a year earlier. Analysts, on average, had forecast earnings of $1.05 a share, according to Reuters Estimates.

(Reuters) - Ballard reported a net loss of $11.1 million, or 10 cents a
share, for the period ended June 30, compared with a loss of
$17.3 million, or 15 cents a share, in the year-before
quarter.

expected a loss of 13 cents a share, before exceptions.

Aaron Rents Inc. (RNT US) fell the most since February 2001,
losing $3.17, or 12 percent, to $24.05. The office and

closed yesterday. Analysts expect $1.62 a share, according to the

PepsiAmericas posts higher profit, shares rise

(Reuters) - Earnings rose 20 percent to 61 cents a share. Analysts on average were expecting a flat quarter at 50 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates.




Total sales were up 12.6 percent at $1.20 billion, slightly ahead of analysts' average view of $1.17 billion.

UPDATE 1-Corning says quarterly profit slips 5 pct

(Reuters) - Second-quarter net income fell to $489 million, or 30 cents
a share, from $514 million, or 32 cents per share a year
earlier. Excluding special charges, Corning, the largest maker
of glass for liquid crystal display televisions, reported
earnings of 34 cents a share.




Analysts on average had forecast Corning to earn 32 cents a
share, according to Reuters Estimates.

Xerox posts higher quarterly net, lifts outlook

(Reuters) - Xerox, the world's biggest supplier of office printers, copiers and related services, reported second-quarter net income of $266 million, or 28 cents a share, up from $260 million, or 25 cents a share, a year earlier.




Analysts were expecting a profit of 27 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates.
