PRESS DIGEST - British business - June 19

(Reuters) - Alain Levy, the French head of music at EMI , who was
sacked in January following the latest in a string of profit
warnings by the company, received a 1.12 million pound bonus
last year as part of a total remuneration package of 4.6 million
pounds. EMI said that under the terms of his contract, Levy was
entitled to both a bonus and a pay-off "in the event of his
termination without cause ". He is
also entitled to continue to receive retirement benefits and
other benefits in kind for a year after his sacking.

U.K. FTSE 100 Falls, Paced by Mitchells & Butlers, BHP and Rio Tinto

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks fell led by Mitchells &
Butlers Plc fell after Deutsche Bank AG lowered its
recommendation for the pub owner. Experian Group Plc and Royal &
Sun Alliance Insurance Group Plc paced advancing shares.

BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group slipped as copper
prices retreated in Asia. EMI Group Plc rose on the broader FTSE
All-Share Index.

Former EMI CEO readying rival takeover bid: paper

(Reuters) - EMI's board recommended a 265 pence a share offer from private equity firm Terra Firma on Monday.

NEWSMAKER-Karaoke-loving Guy Hands hears the music at EMI

(Reuters) - Hands made his name at Nomura in the mid-1990s, snapping up
struggling companies in some of the biggest leveraged deals of
the time before striking out on his own in 2002 with Terra
Firma Capital Partners, with the Japanese bank as an investor.




By that measure, EMI, the world's third largest music
seller, plays right into his turnaround expertise.
