UPDATE 1-Biotech crop sector sets standards, seeks to ease fears

(Reuters) - KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 25 - U.S. biotech crop
companies on Wednesday unveiled a plan for new industry
standards at a time when the sector faces unfavorable court
rulings and concerns that lax government oversight is allowing
contamination of crops used in food and animal feed.




Leaders of the Biotechnology Industry Organization
and executives with Monsanto Co. and DuPont Co. ,
two biotech crop giants, said they hoped the plan, which
includes third-party auditing, will help agricultural players
around the world feel confident that biotech crop development
is subject to stringent safety standards.

GE Shares Rise the Most in Three Years Following Upbeat Paris Airshow

(Bloomberg) -- General Electric Co. shares surged
the most since January 2004 amid expectations that profit from
selling commercial jet engines will increase because of plane
orders announced this week at the Paris Air Show.

Airbus SAS, the world's largest commercial-aircraft maker,
yesterday won $42.6 billion in contracts. Boeing Co., Airbus's
nearest rival, today announced an $8.8 billion order from
International Lease Finance Corp. GE is the world's largest
maker of jet engines.

Kingfisher Plans $3.6 Billion Airbus Order, Including A380s, People Say

(Bloomberg) -- Kingfisher Airlines Ltd., the only
Indian customer for the Airbus SAS A380, plans to order five
more of the superjumbos this month, becoming the latest airline
to increase orders for the delayed aircraft, two people with
direct knowledge of the matter said.

The carrier also plans to order five A340-600s and five
A350s at this month's Paris Air Show, the people said. The
entire order is worth about $3.6 billion based on list prices.
