U.S. Stock-Index Futures Fall; Bear Stearns, Intel, Pfizer Slide in Europe

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures declined
after Bear Stearns Cos. told investors there's little value left
in its two failed hedge funds and Intel Corp. and Yahoo! Inc.
said competition is reducing earnings.

Bear Stearns, the second-biggest underwriter of mortgage-
backed securities, retreated in Europe. Intel, the world's
largest computer-chip maker, and Yahoo, the most-visited U.S. Web
site, also fell. Pfizer Inc. shares slipped after the company
reported earnings that missed analysts' estimates.

Moody's weighs ratings as drug-patent lapses near

(Reuters) - Eli Lilly and Co. , Pfizer Inc. and
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. are particularly vulnerable to
the downgrades because the top-selling drug of each expires in
that period.




Merck & Co. could also be adversely affected as two
of its important drugs face patent expirations.

Teva to sell generic version of Pfizer's Norvasc

(Reuters) - Total annual sales of the drug are about $2.8 billion,
Israel-based Teva said. Once one of Pfizer's biggest selling
drugs, an incoming flood of generics is expected to eat
dramatically into sales.




Rival generic drugmaker Mylan Laboratories Inc. in
March launched a generic form of the medicine, known
generically as amlodipine, after a federal appeals court
declared some of Pfizer's patent claims invalid.

Connecticut AG investigates Pfizer security breach

(Reuters) - Richard Blumenthal said in a news release that he has sent
a letter to Pfizer requesting that they take specific steps to
protect their employees.




"My office will seek all relevant information from Pfizer
about this security breach and fight to assure that its
employees have as much protection as possible from the scourge
of identity theft," Blumenthal said.
