Anglo Platinum CEO to resign end-August

(Reuters) - Ralph Havenstein, the chief executive of Angloplat, said on Monday he would resign from heading the world's biggest platinum producer, effective August 31.

Havenstein will be replaced by two Angloplat officials -- Norman Mbazima, the finance director, and Duncan Wanblad, the director of projects and engineering. Mbazima and Wanblad will be joint acting CEOs for operational and commercial activities, respectively.

Spartech says CEO quits, cuts profit view; shares fall

(Reuters) - "Abd, CEO since May 2005, was the architect and driving force behind the company's recent structural changes and operational improvements," Deutsche Bank analyst David Begleiter said in a research note to clients on Monday.




Shares of the company fell more than 20 percent, or $5.52, to $21.80 in midday trade, making them the highest percentage loser on the New York Stock Exchange on more than four times the 10-day moving average volume, according to Reuters data.

Commerce Bank CEO presided over innovation, scandal

(Reuters) - But New Jersey entrepreneur Vernon Hill applied lessons learned running Burger King outlets, about friendly service and convenient hours, to make Commerce Bancorp the fastest growing U.S. bank and a revolutionary force in retail banking.




The Commerce chairman and chief executive retired on Friday under pressure, at age 61, after years of questionable insider dealings at the bank triggered federal regulatory probes. His sudden departure from the bank he founded 34 years ago ends a career where he came to be regarded as a visionary and a great CEO, but also a maverick with little regard for the rules.

AIRSHOW-Textron's Cessna books $1 bln NetJets order

(Reuters) - The boom in business jet sales is not yet over, Cessna's chief executive said on Wednesday at the Paris Air Show, where the company unveiled the NetJets order.




"They called it too early," said Cessna CEO Jack Pelton, describing industry comments last year that the business jet boom would peak in 2006. Cessna was still seeing "very strong order intake," he added.

Humana to buy dental and vision benefits provider

(Reuters) - Atlanta-based CompBenefits provides dental and vision benefit plans to more than 4.8 million members, Humana said.



"When combined with our current HumanaDental business unit, this acquisition will give Humana the type of comprehensive integrated product offering that employers are seeking," Humana CEO Mike McCallister said in a statement.

Lifting the Lid: Hedge funds stay under US SEC's radar

(Reuters) - This would be another blow to some lawmakers and regulators
who have been seeking, yet largely failing, to bring the
secretive industry out of the shadows.




The $1.5 trillion hedge fund industry is playing an
increasingly powerful role in financial markets, whether it is
funds calling for the ouster of poorly performing CEOs or
financing private equity takeovers.

CEOs more cautious in economic view

(Reuters) - Their forecast of U.S. gross domestic product growth this year also declined. The CEOs now expect 2.6 percent GDP growth, compared with a forecast of 2.9 percent in March.




The majority of CEOs polled -- 66 percent -- expected their companies' sales to rise over the next six months. Forty-two percent said they expected to increase their U.S. staffing over the next six months, and 34 percent said they expected to raise their capital spending over that period.

Harmony Gold sees Q4 flat output, costs

(Reuters) - South Africa's Harmony Gold expects flat production and costs during the current fourth quarter to end-June, its CEO said on Tuesday.

"We would expect very similar numbers (compared to the previous quarter)," Chief Executive Bernard Swanepoel told the Reuters Global Mining and Steel Summit in London via telephone from Cape Town.

Merck's Loescher to be Siemens' first outsider CEO

(Reuters) - Siemens hopes Austrian-born Peter Loescher, a top U.S. healthcare executive who is relatively unknown in Germany, will restore the tarnished reputation of Siemens, which is battling multiple investigations into suspected bribery and corruption.




Current CEO Klaus Kleinfeld tendered his resignation last month after failing to receive clear backing from the supervisory board, which feared Kleinfeld could yet become implicated in the course of the investigations.
