IKB subprime shockwaves continue to rattle Germany

(Reuters) - German commercial property financier Hypo Real Estate struggled to calm jittery investors by insisting it would be unaffected by the U.S. subprime fallout.




Its shares skidded more than 6 percent while Commerzbank -- which owns a property financier -- saw its stock fall over 4 percent.

Germany's DAX Falls; Hypo Real Estate, Depfa Drop; Deutsche Post Advances

(Bloomberg) -- German stocks fell, led by Hypo Real
Estate Holding AG, on speculation the commercial property lender
may be affected by losses in the U.S. subprime mortgage market.

Deutsche Post AG advanced after the company reported
earnings that beat analyst estimates.

Deutsche Boerse, Deutz, Infineon, MAN and MediGene: German Equity Preview

(Bloomberg) -- The following stocks may rise or fall
in German markets.

Germany's X-DAX Index climbed 0.9 percent to 7529.98. The
index provides an estimate of the DAX Index, based on trading in
DAX futures after the Xetra electronic market closes. The DAX
added 0.1 percent to 7456.31 on the Xetra electronic-trading
system.

Germany warn Siemens on Libya atomic deal - paper

(Reuters) - Germany's Environment Ministry and opposition Greens party have warned Siemens not to take part in a planned French nuclear deal with Libya, Handelsblatt reported.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy signed a memorandum of understanding for a nuclear energy deal with Libya during a visit there last week.

KfW Sells First Bonds Denominated in Thai Baht to Attract Asian Investors

(Bloomberg) -- KfW Group, the German government-
owned finance agency, sold its first bonds in Thai baht to
attract new investors in Asia.

Deutsche Bank AG arranged the sale of 3 billion baht ($100.8
million) of the three-year bonds to Thai pension funds, insurance
companies and banks, according to a press statement from KfW in
Frankfurt.

Vattenfall Halts Brunsbuettel Nuclear Power Plant to Repair Screw Anchors

(Bloomberg) -- Vattenfall Europe AG, Germany's
fourth-largest utility, halted its Brunsbuettel nuclear plant for
repairs to screw anchors.

The 771-megawatt reactor will remain offline until
investigations and repairs are complete, the Social Ministry of
the state of Schleswig-Holstein, where the facility is based,
said today in an e-mailed statement. Faults were discovered with
screw anchors holding pipes in place, the ministry said.

European Stocks Advance; SAP, Roche Holding and Vodafone Pace the Gains

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks rose for the first
time in three days, led by technology companies after Germany's
SAP AG and International Business Machines Corp. of the U.S.
reported earnings and sales that beat analysts' estimates.

Shares of Roche Holding AG rallied on better-than-expected
profit for the world's biggest maker of cancer medicine. Vodafone
Group Plc gained after the world's largest mobile-phone company
increased subscribers.

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks may rise for the
first time in three days, led by technology companies after
Germany's SAP AG and International Business Machines Corp. of the
U.S. reported earnings and sales that beat analysts' estimates.

Shares of Roche Holding AG will probably advance after the
world's biggest maker of cancer medicine reported an increase in
profit for the first-half.

(Bloomberg) -- The following stocks may rise or fall
in German markets. Stock symbols are in parentheses after the

DAX futures expiring in September tumbled 118, or 1.5
percent, to 7975.50 at 8:21 a.m. in Frankfurt. The DAX fell 0.8
percent to 8038.21 on the Xetra electronic-trading system.

Germany's DAX Index Climbs to Record, Led by Shares of BASF, Allianz

(Bloomberg) -- German stocks advanced, led by BASF
AG, Allianz SE and Deutsche Bank AG.

The benchmark DAX Index rose 83.97, or 1 percent, to a
record 8137.40 as of 9:10 a.m. in Frankfurt. The HDAX Index of
the country's 110 biggest companies climbed 1 percent.

Airbus German workers set terms for plant sales

(Reuters) - HAMBURG, Germany, July 11 - The German works council of aerospace group EADS unit Airbus will not oppose the sale of Airbus factories in Germany under some conditions, works council head Ruediger Luetjen said.



The workforce would go along with such divestments if a buyer agrees to maintain the plants for the long term and honours current wage agreements, he told a news conference on Wednesday.

Emission Permits Fall to Near Two-Month Low as German Power Prices Drop

(Bloomberg) -- European Union carbon dioxide
permits fell to near a two-month low as German power for next
year dropped, potentially making generation less profitable.

Permits for delivery in December 2008 fell 20 cents, or 1
percent, to 20.80 euros a metric ton in Amsterdam, according to
prices from the European Climate Exchange at 9:38 a.m. local
time. They earlier fell as low as 20.60 euros, near their lowest
since May 15.

Government Bonds Rise Worldwide After Moody's Cut Ratings on Subprime Debt

(Bloomberg) -- Government bonds rose around the
world after Moody's Investors Service cut the ratings on $5.2
billion of bonds backed by subprime mortgages, spurring demand
for the safest assets.

Benchmark 10-year Treasuries and German bunds gained for a
third day and Japanese government bonds had their biggest rally
in more than 10 months on speculation a deepening U.S. housing
slump will slow the world's biggest economy.

German DAX Benchmark Index Retreats; Led by Continental, TUI, Siemens

(Bloomberg) -- German stocks dropped, led by
Continental AG, TUI AG and Siemens AG.

The benchmark DAX Index lost 89.49, or 1.1 percent, to
7875.27 as of 9:10 a.m. in Frankfurt. The HDAX Index of the
country's 110 biggest companies also dropped 1.1 percent.

European Government Bonds Gain on Signs German, French Growth Is Slowing

(Bloomberg) -- European government bonds advanced
for a second day as signs of slowing growth in the euro region's
two biggest economies prompted investors to pare bets the
European Central Bank will raise interest rates again this year.

Ten-year bonds rose, pushing yields down from near a five-
year high, as reports showed German wholesale prices grew at the
slowest pace for two years in June and French manufacturing
declined in May for the first time in six months. Bonds were also
buoyed by speculation yields already reflect the prospects of
further rate increases by the ECB.

German Stocks Including Bayer, Linde, MAN Decline; BMW, Merck Move Higher

(Bloomberg) -- German stocks including Bayer AG,
Linde AG and MAN AG declined. Merck KGaA and Bayerische Motoren
Werke AG paced rising shares.

The DAX rose 2.48, or less than 0.1 percent, to 7989.61 at
10:13 a.m. in Frankfurt. DAX futures expiring in September
decreased 0.2 percent to 8034.50. The HDAX Index of the
country's 110 biggest companies shed 0.2 percent.

No crisis lurks in sub-prime woes: Deutsche Bank

(Reuters) - "There will be more but I don't think we will see systemic risks in this area," Baenziger told a financial conference organized by Germany's central bank.




Baenziger said the problems that U.S. lender Bear Stearns has had with two of its hedge fund businesses active in the mortgage lending market were unlikely to crop up at other banks.

Apple iPhone margins 55 percent

(Reuters) - ISuppli said its estimates did not include costs such as royalties and logistics. Some analysts have also speculated that AT&T Inc. , the exclusive U.S. service provider for the phone, may take a portion of the iPhone retail price for devices it sells in its stores.




According to iSuppli, the phone's display, a much lauded feature for the device, costs $27 or about 10.8 percent of the device's hardware costs. The display was supplied by Germany's Balda AG , iSuppli said.

White Sugar Falls for 2nd Day After F.O. Licht Raises Production Forecast

(Bloomberg) -- White sugar fell for a second
straight trading session in London after German commodity
research company F.O. Licht lifted its production forecast.

Global sugar-cane output, led by an increase from India,
will be 4.6 percent higher than previously forecast, bolstering
a surplus, F.O. Licht said in an e-mailed report today. Output
will be 130 million tons in the 2006-2007 season, up 19 percent
from last year, the Ratzeburg, Germany-based group said. India
is the world's second-biggest producer, after Brazil.
